Lab. Instrument Requests and Results

Hi All, FHIR newb, systems designing on free open instrument middleware project Froid, using OpenHIM and FHIR, to link Lab instruments down stream.

Diagnostic Reports seem to be the only suitable content type? All advice welcome.

Is their a discussion where we can contribute on refining these to match LIMS data structures better, and also to handle realtime lightweight instrument queries and responses?

Observation is usually what’s used to capture instrumentation measurements. DiagnosticReports are used to aggregate a bunch of information into a formal report from a lab, pathologist, radiologist, etc. Discussion about representing information generally happens on http://chat.fhir.org
